Jennifer is leading one of case studies investigating how people with complex medical and social care needs can be better supported to live independently using technology. She has a background in health and social care commissioning, having previously worked for a local authority and NHS Trust before returning to academia to engage in doctoral research. Her PhD, funded through an ESRC Collaborative Award for Science and Engineering (CASE studentship), assessed the contribution and aspirations of different stakeholders involved in the provision of telecare and telehealth, with a particular focus on public policy discourse; experience-based narratives; the relationship between policy and practice; and the ethical dimensions of technological interventions in health and social care arrangements.
